Dr. Alphonce J. Odondo BA, MA, PhD (Maseno University)

The Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics.


Dr. Odondo is an economist by profession. He earned his Bachelor's degree, Master degree and Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Maseno University, where he handled both post and under graduate courses for ten (10) years as a full-time staff. He has extensive research experience with most of his research activities focusing on poverty reduction strategies particularly on rural poverty and smallholder livelihood strategies. He has served in several admirative positions and chaired a number of committees at the University level. He has supervised to completion over thirty (30) post graduate students and published over thirty (30) research papers in refereed academic journals. Dr. Odondo is a founding teaching staff of Tom Mboya University college and Dean Faculty of Business and Economics.

Faculty of Business and Economics is one of the faculties in Tom Mboya University College (TMUC) that was created in September, 2018 following the re-organization of existing Facultys to be in tandem with the approved TMUC strategic plan. The Faculty houses ten (10) undergraduate programmes, three (3) Post graduate, four (4) diploma and four (4) certificate programmes respectively. It also trains students undertaking Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) Professional Courses. The programmes are mounted as regular, evening and weekend tracks depending on the class sizes. Weekend and evening tracks run for a trimester while the regular track runs for two semesters in a calendar year. The Faculty is a live to the changing societal needs and thus, strives to develop and mount other market driven programmes. The programmes are handled by competent and highly experienced faculty.


Faculty of Business and Economics strives to be a center of excellence dedicated to teaching, research, mentorship and partnership with both local and global communities.


Our mission is to foster excellence in teaching, research, and learning with the view to produce responsible graduates capable of transforming our society.


Our mandate is drawn from the University College's Statutes guided by the Universities Act, 2012. The Faculty shall promote academic excellence through development of academic programmes, continuous learning, teaching, research and outreach.
